TEDxXIE 2017

TEDxXIE 2017 witnessed 6 exceptional individuals, who are torch-bearers in their respective fields have come together to grace the event, to share their ideas and innovations, in the hope of making this world a better place to live in.

Theme: “making waves” initiates ideas involving remarkable views and response which will inspire people to have a proactive mind-set. It suggests about making Unconventional Choices, questioning beliefs and making an impact which will never go un-noticed.

Speaker 1 : Mr.Basesh Gala

Our first speaker for the evening, Mr.Basesh Gala, is a Success Coach, Thought Leader, Management & Brand Expert, the Founder and M.D. of 39 Solutions (Strategy and Brand Insights Firm). He won the “Leadership Award” from the then President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He is an undergraduate from VJTI in I.T., an MBA Finance (Gold Medallist) from the Fisher College of Business (USA) and has acquired his CFA® charter (CFAI, USA). His firm’s business venture RISE has been awarded 'The Best Business Training Program' by Times Ascent & Global HRD Congress.

Through his firm, he aims to transform 1 Million Businesses in india having already crossed a mile marker of 172 Businesses so far and so Today he will be speaking about his ambition of Transforming India through Business, and journey of accomplishing the same.

Speaker 2 : Dr.Kavi Arya

Dr Kavi Arya is an Assoc. Professor of the Computer Science Department in IIT, Bombay. He is the convener of the Embedded & Real time Systems Lab (ERTS) and the Principal Investigator of 'E-Yantra' a Robotics out-reach Project. He did his B.Sc. in Computer Science from Imperial College (UK) and M.Sc. /D.Phil. from Oxford University (UK). He has executed Defence projects and represents IIT Bombay at meetings with the Army Technology Board and Defence IT Consultative Committee.

Speaker 3 : Harnidh Kaur

Miss Harnidh Kaur, She is an aspiring civil servant and an Accomplished Poet, Writer and Blogger; the author of two collections of poetry - ‘The Inability of Words’ and ‘The Ease of Forgetting’. Her first book, ‘The Inability of Words’ was the Amazon Poetry Bestseller on the first day of its launch. She is currently pursuing her masters in the field of Public Policy at St. Xavier's College (Mumbai). She has been featured on Students of India series in December’15 as an aspiring poet.

In her talk titled “Why poem cannot change the world” is about how art and activism can intermingle and make waves in the world. She will also be highlighting, how intersectional activism matters, why poetry matters and how we as individual can make a difference.

Speaker 4 : Vinay Kumar

Vinay Kumar is the Cofounder & CEO of InvenZone and Arya.ai, the first Indian startup to make it to international innovators list. He has been featured on the Forbes 30 under 30 Asia list. He graduated from IIT, Bombay and is an author, researcher, and marketing manager. In June 2015, his startup received it's second global recognition; where it was named as the top 4 next generation technology start-up at 'Silicon Valley Forum' held at Microsoft's US campus.

Today he’ll be speaking about Deep learning and how the future holds for it.

Speaker 5 : Dr.Abhas Mitra

Dr Abhas Mitra, superannuated as the Head, of the Theoretical Astrophysics Section, at Bhabha Atomic Research Center. He is a noted theoretical astrophysicists and has made important contributions in several areas. He is the most mentioned, “Living Indian Physicist” worldwide & the Label magazine has described him as one of the “7 most talked-about Indian Men, of 2015”.

His peer reviewed papers have shown that even though black hole solution is correct, so-called black holes are likely to be ultra-hot ultra-magnetized ball of fire, with significant observational support. One of the cosmology problem highlighted by him has been termed as 'Mitra Paradox'.

In his talk, Dr.AbhasMitra challenges the possibility of interstellar travel as portrayed in the 2014 movie INTERSTELLAR.

Speaker 6 : Pandita Anuradha Pal

The first professional female Tabla virtuoso in the World (according to Encyclopedia Britannica &Limca Book of Records), PanditaAnuradha Pal has been hailed as a Youth Icon & Woman of Substance at the Woodstock Festival & in various Corporate Launches. She was also lauded as one of the ‘30 Leading Women of India’ by India Today, ‘five prominent women musicians of India’ by BBC World Radio, Woman of Pure Wonder by Vodafone Foundation & pre-eminent Torchbearer of Indian Classical music. A disciple of UstadAllaRakhaSaheb and UstadZakirHussain, she was the first and youngest female Indian musician to perform at two of the biggest music festivals in the World – Woodstock Festival (Poland, 2008) for 400,000 people & WOMAD (Reading, 1999). As an avant-garde musician, she has redefined boundaries through constant innovation & creativity in her art. In 2006, she was the Brand Ambassador of UNICEF for female empowerment, education & achievement. Besides being a world-renowned Tabla Soloist and accompanist with the biggest Indian artists, like Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Pt. HariprasadChaurasia, to name a few; she regularly collaborates with Flamenco, Jazz, Latin, African, Pop & New Age Music & is the founder of the world’s first all female Indian Classical band, Anuradha Pal’s Stree Shakti.
